Bremen Police – Department E4 – Riot Police Polizei Bremen - Abteilung E4 – Bereitschaftspolizei

The Riot Police Directorate forms part of the Bremen Police Force. It is organised into: the Management Team, Central Services, the Medical Service, Police Custody, Tactical Squads, the Evidence-Securing and Arrest Unit, the Technical Operations Unit and the Police Dog Unit. As part of the reform processes in the city of Bremen, the duties of the riot police have changed. For example, some officers (Regio platoons) carry out their duties in assigned neighbourhoods, where they undertake crime-fighting tasks. All riot police officers are involved in day-to-day police work, carry out operations in special situations (including football matches, demonstrations and other public events) in the city centre, and provide support to police forces in other federal states when requested.
