Application for teacher traineeship

After successfully completing your teacher training course (1st phase), you must complete a preparatory service (2nd phase) in order to qualify as a school teacher in Bremen.

The Master's certificate or a certificate with the final overall grade can be submitted at a later date. Please note the current deadlines on the LIS homepage.

If your application is successful, you will be appointed as a civil servant on revocation, provided you meet the formal requirements (nationality/age limit 45 years at the time of appointment). Alternatively, you will be appointed as a trainee under public law.

The training takes place at the State Institute for Schools as well as at assigned training schools.

The preparatory service is usually completed in 18 months and ends with the passing of the 2nd state examination for the teaching profession of your teacher training course.

• Curriculum Vitae
  

  A CV containing a complete record of the timeline of your education and, where applicable, any previous employment

  (Please sign your CV).

• Certificate
  

  Certificate confirming any periods of military service, civilian service or a voluntary social year

• Birth certificate / Certificate of descent / Marriage certificate
  

  Birth certificate/certificate of descent and, where applicable, the marriage certificate with proof of the name used, the children’s birth certificates, and the divorce decree with a note confirming that it has become final.

  Foreign documents must be translated.

  Certified copy of the school leaving certificate (qualifying for university entry/A-level certificate)

• Proof of measles vaccination
  

  If you were born after 31 December 1970, please submit proof of measles vaccination. You may provide your vaccination record, a medical certificate confirming existing immunity to measles (see the form listing the application documents to be submitted) or any other medical certificate (all originals).

Applications due March 15 (for August 1 hiring date) and September 15 (for February 1 hiring date) of each year.

How long does it take to process
