Apply for monthly payment of social compensation to surviving parents
Parents of an injured person who has died as a result of an injury receive a monthly compensation payment under certain conditions. You can find out more here.
Basic information
If your child has died as a result of a harmful event for which the state bears special responsibility, you as parents can receive a monthly compensation payment if you
- are fully incapacitated for work or
- are unable to carry out reasonable gainful employment for other compelling reasons or
- have reached the age of 60,
at the earliest, however, from the month in which your child would have reached the age of 18.
The monthly compensation payment to parents is as follows for each child who has died as a result of the injury
- EUR 271 for one parent who is still alive,
- for both parents EUR 163 each.
Under certain conditions, stepparents, foster parents or grandparents can also receive a monthly compensation payment.
Please note that your social compensation provider will decide whether and to what extent you receive support.
Requirements
- Your child has died as a result of a harmful event.
- The application must be submitted to the competent institution at the place of residence.
- Exception: In the case of vaccination injuries, responsibility depends on the place of vaccination.
