Apply for recertification of aviation security control personnel for security measures of airport operators

As an airport operator or security service provider, you can apply for the recertification of aviation security screeners in writing or online to the aviation security authority responsible for you.

If you wish to apply for recertification in writing:

• First, as an airport operator or security service provider, you notify the competent aviation security authority of the need for recertification of your aviation security screeners and at the same time submit training certificates, results of the image evaluation and the assessment of the work performance of the persons to be recertified over the last three years.
• The aviation security authority accepts the documents and checks them.
• You can submit any missing documents at a later date.
• The responsible aviation security authority will set a date for the image evaluation test in consultation with the security service provider.
• The aviation security authority then carries out the image evaluation test and a theoretical test on the persons to be recertified.
• Once recertification has been successfully completed, the recertification certificate is issued.
• The security service provider receives information about the results of the recertification.
• The airport operator receives a copy of the recertification certificates.
• A fee notice is issued and sent to the airport operator.

If you wish to apply for recertification online:

• Send an e-mail to the responsible office.

• Proof of valid background check
• Proof of physical and mental aptitude for working as an aviation security screener in accordance with Annex 1 to the Aviation Security Training Ordinance
• Proof of further training in the last 3 years
• Assessments of work performance by the person responsible for training
• Results of the image evaluation tests

What deadlines must be paid attention to?

3 years Period of validity.
A recertification interval of 3 years is provided for persons who operate X-ray or EDS devices.
Otherwise the interval is 5 years.
