If, in the case of injured parties and orphans, funding for education under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is provided in the form of a loan as a result of the injury, the social compensation provider may, upon application, assume the repayment of the loan.
Basic information
If, in the case of injured parties and orphans, funding for education under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is provided in the form of a loan as a result of the injury, the social compensation provider can take over the repayment of the loan on application.
In the case of orphans, it is assumed that the need is damage-related if
- the death of a parent occurs during education or
- the education begins within five years of the death of one of the parents.
If the death of one or both parents occurs during the course of education, the loan received up to that point is not considered to be due to loss. The loan payments are deemed to be loss-related from the time of the death of one or both parents. In such a case, the social compensation provider will only take over the repayment of the loan from this point in time.
Please note that your social compensation provider will decide whether and to what extent you will receive support.
