Disburse funding for private secondary schools

Learn more about grants for private secondary schools in the state of Bremen here.

The sponsor of an approved alternative school that is operated on a non-profit basis receives a grant from the state.

The grant may be awarded for the first time after 3 years have elapsed since the start of teaching.

The grant is determined for a school year from the pupil cost rate multiplied by the number of pupils.

The pupil cost rate is 72.3 percent for elementary schools, 76 percent for high schools and the Waldorf School, and 93 percent for high schools of the actual personnel expenses of the corresponding public schools. The subsidy is adjusted in accordance with the development of the pupil cost rates.

The number of pupils takes into account those pupils of the respective alternative school who have their home in Bremen and attend the alternative school in the respective month.
