Register meeting

The free and democratic basic order essentially includes the right to freedom of expression and the right to assemble peacefully and without weapons in the open air.

According to prevailing opinion, an assembly within the meaning of Article 8 of the Basic Law exists if more than two people come together for a joint discussion or demonstration aimed at participating in the formation of public opinion.

Public festivals and entertainment events as well as events that merely serve to display an attitude to life therefore do not fall under the definition of an assembly. See service description "Events on public property".

The assembly authority in Bremen is the Public Order Office. In Bremen, the Federal Assembly Act (VersammlG) applies.

Applicants can obtain advice on the details of assemblies from the Public Order Office. In the event of ambiguities or more extensive planning requirements, the Public Order Office will invite you to a cooperation meeting in which ambiguities can be clarified and any problems solved, if necessary together with the police.

Especially if you would like to hold an assembly in the city center, it is advisable to first contact the Public Order Office by telephone so that it can be clarified which central locations are available on your desired date.

There is no charge for registering and holding an assembly.

To register your assembly, please use the digital assembly notification. You will find this under the heading Further information.
