Registering your place of residence when moving from abroad

If you have moved to Bremen from abroad and wish to register your residence in Bremen, you must do so in person at one of the BürgerServiceCenters.

It is not possible to register via the online service if you are moving from abroad.

Personal registration of residence:

You can make an appointment at one of the BürgerServiceCenters or come without an appointment during the opening hours of the open consultation hours.

• You will appear in person.
  
  • All persons who are to be registered must be present at the appointment, including children.
• You present all the necessary documents.
• When you register, a digital registration form will be filled out for you on site. You must sign this.
• Once the documents have been checked, you will receive confirmation of registration.

More information

• From the age of 16, the signature of a parent or legal guardian is not required.
• Vehicle documents must also be changed
• Driving licenses are not changed.

• Representation by another person is not possible.
  
  • All persons to be registered must be present at the registration appointment, including children.
• A valid identity document
  
  • identity card or passport
  • and, if applicable, your electronic residence permit (eAT) or your eID card - if you have one.

  IMPORTANT:
  Your eAT or eID card are not valid identification documents without the corresponding passport.

• Last residential address in Germany
  
  • Confirmation of registration, day of moving in and out.
• When moving into a rental property:
  
  • Confirmation of residence.
• When purchasing residential property:
  
  • Landlord's confirmation as declaration of ownership.
• For spouses, life partners and family members with the same immigration data:
  
  • Date of moving in and previous and current homes.
• If you apply for the registration of a marriage/partnership or the birth of a child, you may be asked to submit further documents.
  
  • These serve as proof of the information provided (for example: marriage certificate, birth certificate).
  • The documents must be submitted in German.

What deadlines must be paid attention to?

You must register your new place of residence within 2 weeks of moving into your new home. If no appointment is available within the two weeks, it is sufficient to make an appointment in good time at one of our Citizens' Service Centers.
