Here you can register your child for a school place in the municipality of Bremen after moving here from abroad if your child does not have sufficient knowledge of German.

Basic information
The education department is responsible for school-age children and young people between the ages of 6 and 18. Children without sufficient knowledge of German can acquire their first language skills in learning groups after arriving from abroad.
These are called preliminary courses and take place in schools throughout Bremen. There are also welcome schools for children and young people who have recently arrived in Bremen and do not yet speak sufficient German.
Newly arrived children of primary school age receive their first learning opportunities in the initial reception facilities.

- First time attending school in the municipality of Bremen after moving from abroad
- No or insufficient Insufficient knowledge of German for regular school attendance
- Residence in the municipality of Bremen
