Survivors' benefits under the Prisoner Assistance Act

Survivors of Germans who have been imprisoned for political reasons in the former GDR, in former East Berlin or in the expulsion territories mentioned in the Federal Expellees Act and who have suffered damage to their health as a result of this and died as a result, receive a survivor's pension in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Pensions Act (BVG).

A survivor's pension may be granted if the deceased was prevented by the consequences of the injury from pursuing gainful employment.
