Towing of unregistered/inoperable vehicles

The traffic monitoring staff will try to locate the owner on the basis of the chassis number or the license plate number.

When you collect your car, please inform the towing company if you wish to receive a cost assessment notice. The procedure will then be forwarded to Unit 23.

If no one comes to collect the vehicle after 1 month, the vehicles will be sold or auctioned.

You will need proof of ownership to collect your vehicle from our contractual partner. This can be, for example

• Registration certificate part 2 (formerly vehicle registration document)

An existing duplicate key is not sufficient.

You should also have the following documents with you:

• Identity card or passport
• Driver's license
• Purchase contract (if available)

Towing costs from 205,00 EUR
15,00 EUR Storage costs per day, max. 100.00 euros/month for cars.
116,65 EUR Administrative fees for traffic monitoring plus fees for scrapping or auctioning
52,40 EUR Administrative fees for traffic monitoring for immediate collection.

What deadlines must be paid attention to?

You have 1 month to collect your vehicle from our contractual partners at Bremer Autohandels- und Verwertungsgesellschaft (BAV) or Abschlepp- und Bergungsgesellschaft (ABG).
You can lodge an appeal against the decision fixing the costs within one month of receipt. The appeal must be submitted in writing.
