The Bremen Office for Support and Inclusion – the Inclusion Office – is a service organisation that supports employers and employees with severe disabilities. Our aim is to create jobs for people with severe disabilities, to adapt these jobs – where necessary – to suit their disabilities as much as possible, and to ensure they are sustained in the long term. We advise employers, employees with severe disabilities and the workplace inclusion team; we provide support through technical and other forms of assistance; and, where appropriate, we engage the specialist inclusion service. To do this, we utilise the compensation levy paid by employers. To safeguard jobs, we contribute to preventative measures and ensure compliance with the special protection against dismissal for people with severe disabilities. We regularly offer a wide range of information sessions on the topic of ‘Recruitment and employment of people with severe disabilities in businesses and public administration’. These free courses are aimed at employers, the workplace integration team as defined under SGB IX (employer representatives, works councils and staff councils, representatives for people with severe disabilities), HR administrators, line managers, occupational health doctors, people with severe disabilities and other interested parties. Our work is based on the Social Code – Book IX (SGB IX).
