At the six social centres, the Refugees, Integration and Families Department, and the newly established Participation Department, you can apply for a wide range of essential services, from participation benefits and parental allowance to advance child maintenance payments. At the same time, you will receive advice and assistance in all situations where support is needed and available. People who have fled to Bremen can also apply to us for help and support.
As the Youth Welfare Office, the Department for Social Services also carries out statutory duties, such as the protection of children and participation in youth court proceedings, and promotes the personal development of young people.
As a social welfare office, the Office for Social Services supports citizens who are unable to work full-time. Our specialists advise adults facing particular social difficulties and older people. The Participation Service supports people with disabilities who are in need of assistance.
The Refugees, Integration and Families Specialist Service supports refugees with benefits under the Asylum Seekers’ Benefits Act for those eligible at the Central Reception Centre, emergency accommodation, temporary housing and other facilities, as well as children and young people who have fled to Bremen unaccompanied by a legal guardian.
All staff members at the Office, the social centres and the specialist services are committed to supporting you on a daily basis, within the limits of the law.
