E licence plate

Pure battery electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles that can be charged externally, and fuel cell vehicles can receive an E license plate upon application.
The application can be made informally as part of the processing of the registration or transfer.

If it is not possible for the vehicle to be clearly assigned by the registration authority, an expert opinion from a testing organization or a manufacturer's certificate must be submitted as suitable proof.

Externally chargeable hybrid vehicles may have carbon dioxide emissions of no more than 50g/km and must have a minimum range with purely electric drive of 30 km (from 01.01.2018 40 km).

Since 01.10.2017, the E license plate can also be assigned as a seasonal license plate.
