The Bremen Sports Authority sees itself as a service provider and offers a wide range of services, including

• the management and operation of district and other sports facilities
• Maintenance and refurbishment of sports facilities,
• Advising clubs on the planning and financing of construction projects
• Support for the activities of clubs and federations
• The operation of the city’s swimming lakes
• Operation of municipal water sports harbours and other specialist sports facilities
• Support for supra-regional and international sporting events
• Supporting outdoor and indoor swimming pools
• Advising clubs on funding opportunities and processing funding applications
• Advice on recreational sports opportunities
• Running the Stadtwerder Sports School for training courses, events, training camps, etc.
• Provision of sports grounds and facilities for users outside organised sport.

The Bremen district sports facilities managed by the Sports Department have been open seven days a week from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm for schools, sports clubs and associations for many years. This public service is therefore available to users for 98 hours per week.
