Workplace Social Counselling

The Workplace Social Counselling Service (BSB) is a support service for public sector employees of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen who work in the central administration or in a municipal enterprise with a relevant cooperation agreement.

The role of the Workplace Social Counselling Service is to advise employees when they need help, regardless of the reason for seeking advice or the nature of the issue requiring support. The Workplace Social Counselling Service therefore acts as a counselling centre providing support on matters relating to health, work and personal life. This excludes advice on legal matters.

The Workplace Social Counselling Service offers support to help assess the current situation together and find possible solutions. The counsellors are bound by statutory confidentiality obligations and the applicable data protection regulations. Counselling sessions are strictly confidential.

What kinds of issues can employees and managers raise with the counselling service?

In principle, the Workplace Social Counselling Service is open to all enquiries. It does not matter whether the concerns relate to work, health or personal life. 

The Workplace Social Counselling Service provides support, for example, with:

• personal, family and social problems
• overwork, stress and feeling overwhelmed
• worries and anxieties
• psychosomatic and health-related complaints
• stressful change processes
• Conflicts
• Addiction issues
• difficult life situations and crises
