Apply for a background check according to the Bremen Port Security Act

You need a background check for certain safety-related activities in the ports of Bremen. If you successfully complete the check, you will be issued with a clearance certificate.
Basic information
The Port Security Authority is the competent authority for port security. The background checks within the meaning of Section 16 of the Bremen Port Security Act are carried out by Department 31 on its behalf.
If you submit an application for a background check, the check will be carried out. If the check is completed successfully and there are no remaining doubts about your reliability, you will receive a clearance certificate.
With this certificate, you are permitted to carry out safety-relevant activities in the ports of Bremen.
Requirements
There must be a legitimate interest in the inspection in accordance with Section 16 of the Bremen Port Security Act and Department 31 must be the competent authority. This applies if you belong to one of the following groups of people and carry out a security-relevant activity in Bremen's port facilities:
- Persons who are to be appointed as security officers
- Persons entrusted with drawing up or updating a security plan
- other persons who have access to the security assessment and the security plan due to their work or who are deployed in special security areas, insofar as the competent authority deems this necessary in individual cases
