Apply for a change of address in your passport

Online:

If you have registered online via the electronic residence registration (eWA):

• If you have moved to Bremen from another city and are in possession of a valid passport, you will receive a residence sticker for your passport by post from Bundesdruckerei.
• You stick the sticker with your new place of residence over the old place of residence in your passport.

In person on site:

• You go to one of the BürgerServiceCenters during the opening hours of the short application counters
  
  • You do not need an appointment for this.
• You present your valid passport and your official registration confirmation.
• The registration office will then affix an official address sticker with your new place of residence over the old place of residence in your passport.
• You can authorize another person in writing to change your address in your passport at your local registration office.

You only need to change the place of residence on your passport if you are moving from outside Bremen.

What deadlines must be paid attention to?

You must have your new place of residence changed in your passport immediately after your change of address or change it yourself using the online service.

How long does it take to process

Personal: processing is immediate.

Online: If you register online via the electronic residence registration (eWA) and your details and submitted documents are complete, we will provide you with a registration confirmation in your user account for download within 10 working days. You will then receive the residence sticker for your passport by post.
