You can apply for the exemption permit in various ways:

Online

• Once your application has been processed, you will receive the exemption permit by post.

In writing

• Submit an informal application.
• You can send this by e-mail or post.
• Once your application has been processed, you will receive the exemption permit by post.

Please make sure that all your documents (number) are clearly assigned to your application. If your documents have not reached us within 14 days of submitting your application, we will consider your application to be invalid. In this case, you will not receive any further notification from us.

In the event of loss

• If you lose your special permit (DIN A4 document), you must complete a loss report and send it to the Bremen Department of Roads and Traffic by email or post.

Data from the documents that is not required for identification and processing can be blacked out on the copy. Submitted copies will be destroyed for data protection reasons once the exemption has been granted.

The exemption has a time limit of 5 years or until it is revoked.
