Apply for a stand permit for the Freimarkt

Places to take part in the Bremen Freimarkt are in great demand. Early registration is required.

The Freimarkt takes place on the Bürgerweide, Willy-Brandt-Platz, the station forecourt, the Kastanienwäldchen, the Grasmarkt and on the market square.

Opening hours:

  • Bürgerweide:
    - Sunday to Thursday from 1 pm to 11 pm
    - Friday and Saturday from 1 pm to midnight
    - the market is allowed to "run out" half an hour after the end of each day
  • On the other squares:
    - according to the respective opening hours of the stores

The Bremen Freimarkt is a "folk festival". Any applicant may participate in the festival. However, the organizer is entitled to exclude individual applicants from participation for objectively justified reasons. This applies in particular if the available space is insufficient.
Due to the limited space available, only around a quarter of the approximately 1200 applications received each year will be considered for admission. The selection is intended to ensure that the character of the folk festival is preserved and the expectations of the public are met. Furthermore, the quality and variety of the offer should also be guaranteed. To this end, stores of the highest possible quality are selected from the sectors usually represented at folk festivals.

These sectors are represented at the Bremer Freimarkt:

  • Rollercoasters
  • Delivery warehouses, sign painters etc., fairground suppliers
  • Vending machine and grab game businesses
  • Bumper cars, go-kart tracks
  • Amusement and show shops
  • Stores selling goods for immediate or instant consumption (e.g. snacks of all kinds, ice cream, fish, lard cakes)
  • Carousels, ghost trains
