Procedure
The Osterwiese is a "public festival" (according to § 60 b of the trade regulations). Therefore every applicant is allowed to participate in the festival. However, the organizer is authorized to exclude individual applicants for objectively justified reasons. This applies in particular if the available space is not sufficient.
Due to the limited space available, only about one third of the average of about 600 applications per year will be considered for admission. The selection is intended to ensure that the character of the folk festival is preserved and that the expectations of the audience are met. Furthermore, the quality and diversity of the programme should also be guaranteed. For this purpose, the highest possible quality shops from the sectors usually represented at fairs are selected.
