Procedure

The registration must be made in person at the Trade Licensing Office - Senator for Economics, Labor and Europe, Trade Licensing Department, Katharinenklosterhof 3, 28195 Bremen.

Prostitutes are required to attend a health consultation before commencing work and annually thereafter. The registration procedure also includes a personal information and counseling interview.

For the registration procedure including the consultations, a common appointment is arranged at the premises of the trade authority.

A certificate is issued for the registration and the health consultation.

The registration certificate is generally valid for two years and can be extended. For prostitutes under 21 years of age, the registration is valid for a shorter period of one year; the health consultation must be repeated every six months.

Information and documents required for registration

  • First and last name
  • Date and place of birth
  • Nationality
  • sole residence or main residence as defined by the registration law, alternatively an address for service
  • state or municipality where the activity is planned to take place
  • a recent photograph/photograph without borders, 45 millimeters high and 35 millimeters wide
  • identity card, passport, passport substitute or identity card substitute
  • a certificate of participation in a health consultation within the previous three months
    according to § 10 para. 1 ProstSchG
  • foreign nationals who are not entitled to freedom of movement must submit documents proving
    that you have permission for them to pursue employment or self-employment in Germany
