Request participation in social group work

Some children and young people have difficulties in their personal development. It is difficult for them to approach other children, to get involved in groups or to cope with their problems independently.

Participation in social group work is designed to help older children and adolescents overcome developmental difficulties and behavioral problems.

Social group work can be useful for children and adolescents if they:

  • repeatedly get into violent confrontations.
  • have little self-confidence and behave in a conspicuous manner.
  • are unable to assert themselves.

In social group work, older children and adolescents meet regularly under the guidance of trained pedagogical staff.

Social group work encourages social learning. In doing so, it conveys positive experiences, experiences and insights and thus promotes respect for others and one's own self-confidence. In this way, the young person is encouraged to become a self-reliant and socially responsible personality.
Goals and contents depend on the topic of the social group work. Contents can be:

  • Development of group dynamics.
  • Recognizing the triggers of one's own anger and aggression.
  • Perceiving and expressing one's own feelings.
  • Perceiving and recognizing one's own and others' boundaries.
  • Solving conflicts peacefully.

This is a service type of the help for upbringing. It can also apply to young adults.
