Sale of motor vehicles - notice of sale
Procedure
The last registered vehicle owner is obliged to inform the registration authority of the vehicle sale immediately - in writing or in person.
Notes:
- It is important that the buyer confirms receipt in writing of the old vehicle registration document and vehicle registration certificate or the newly issued registration certificate Part II and Part I, the registration plates as well as the inspection report on the last main inspection, the test certificate on the last emissions test and, if applicable, acceptance certificates on modifications to the vehicle.
- If the vehicle is sold abroad, it is advisable to deregister it before the sale so that the owner's obligations (motor vehicle liability insurance, motor vehicle tax) are terminated. As a rule, the registration authority is not in a position to initiate compulsory deregistration measures abroad if the buyer does not register the vehicle in his name.
- The purchaser has the option of taking the vehicle abroad with an export license plate.
