The Bremen Tax Office has local jurisdiction over the taxation of employees, pensioners, landlords, the self-employed, traders and farmers and foresters, as well as for determining the tax bases of partnerships (e.g. OHG, KG) and other associations of persons within the territory of the city of Bremerhaven and the overseas port area of the municipal district
The Bremerhaven Tax Office is responsible throughout the state for the administration of inheritance and gift tax and land transfer tax, as well as for carrying out the standard valuation and needs-based valuation of real property and the assessment of property taxes (property tax and dyke contribution) for the municipality of Bremen. Property taxes for the municipal area of Bremerhaven are administered by the City Council of Bremerhaven.
The valuation office for properties situated in Bremerhaven is located in the office building at Rickmersstraße 90, 27568 Bremerhaven. The valuation office for properties situated in Bremen is located at Gerhard-Rohlfs-Straße 32, 28757 Bremen-Vegesack.
The Bremerhaven Tax Office also carries out, on a state-wide basis, the duties of the Tax Investigation and Criminal Matters Unit (SteuStra), the Tax Supervision Service Centre (ServiSta) within the North German Network, and the Central Office for Combating VAT Fraud (ZEUS). The SteuStra is situated at An der Reeperbahn 8, 28217 Bremen.
Cash transactions and enforcement activities are handled at the Bremerhaven Tax Office within the central collection office.
