Apply for a Reduction in Daycare Costs

• Parent fees are calculated by two different agencies:
  
  • If your child is cared for at a daycare center operated by “KiTa Bremen” or by independent providers (such as churches), the “Kita-Beitragsdienst” is responsible for you.
  • If your child is cared for at a home-based daycare, a parents’ association, or a privately operated facility, the “Parent Fee Office” is responsible.
• Please contact the appropriate agency.
• Submit the application along with the required documents.
  
  • There are no forms for daycare. Parents should contact their case worker by email or phone. 
• Once the calculation is complete, you will receive the new notification.

• Proof of income for all members of the household who are part of the income community (usually the parents).
• If applicable: Proof of public benefits
• If applicable: Bremen Pass
• If applicable: contribution notice for sibling children

What deadlines must be paid attention to?

Responsibility of the “Daycare Fee Service”: There are no deadlines.

Responsibility of the “Parent Fee Office”: Subsidies for the current kindergarten year can be applied for retroactively until the end of the kindergarten year (July 31). (Effective August 2026)
There are no deadlines for daycare.

How long does it take to process

The processing time depends largely on whether all the required documents have been submitted.
