Dog tax: Register your dog

Procedure

You can register as follows:

Online

• You can register online using the online platform "My ELSTER". You can find the link under "Further information" - "Online service".
• This requires a one-off registration in "My ELSTER" or a registration without registration using the activated online ID function (eID) of your ID card.

In writing

• Fill out the form. You can find the link to the form under "Further information" - "Forms" - "Dog tax registration".

• In certain cases, you can apply for exemption from the dog tax or a reduction. Further information can be found in the following service descriptions:

• Information: No dog tax for refugees from Ukraine
  The Bremen tax office does not levy dog tax on dogs belonging to refugees from Ukraine. Only when you have registered a residence in Bremen do you have to register your dog with the Bremen tax office and pay the dog tax.
