Extend residence permit


Procedure

You will receive a letter in good time before your old residence permit expires asking you to submit all the necessary documents in order to check the requirements for extending your residence permit. You must submit these documents to the Migration Office by the specified deadline.

If something has changed in your life situation and this could affect the extension of your residence permit, you must also inform us of this and, if necessary, provide evidence. Therefore, please also submit documents that we have not requested but which could be important for the decision on the extension of the
residence permit. These could be, for example

  • Documents relating to your family situation, if this has changed,
  • current decisions from other authorities regarding your personal situation,
  • current medical certificates if you are unable to work for health reasons.

You will only be given an appointment once all documents have been received by the Migration Office!

If you are unable to attend the appointment, please send us an e-mail to the address given in the invitation letter requesting another appointment. However, we
would like to point out that in such a case we cannot guarantee that your residence permit can be extended in time for the expiry date. We therefore strongly advise you to keep the appointment sent to you.
