Traffic update

Due to the construction works on Steubenstraße and the associated complete closure of the first railway underpass – including for pedestrians and cyclists – the Stresemannstraße Administrative Centre is not expected to be directly accessible from the Julius-Brecht-Allee stop (Line 1) until summer 2028. However, access is available via Gartenstadt Vahr, Insterburger Str.

+++Hunting licence renewal as of 1 April each year+++

To renew your hunting licence, please post the following documents to us from the 9th calendar week of the year:

1. A completed and signed application form or an informal letter stating the desired period of renewal 
2. The original, current hunting licence 
3. A recent passport-sized photograph in case a new hunting licence needs to be issued
4. Proof of hunting liability insurance for the local hunting authority covering the entire period of the requested renewal (The hunting year begins on 1 April of each year and ends on 31 March of the following year.)

Areas of responsibility

The Firearms and Hunting Affairs Department is your point of contact for firearms
licences and inspections. These include:

• Checks on the safe storage of firearms
• Assessing the reliability and need of firearms owners
• Prohibitions on firearms and ammunition
• Matters relating to shooting ranges
• Firearms dealers

The department is also responsible for handling hunting licences. These include:

• Issuing/renewing a hunting licence
• Permits for hunting in protected areas
• Conducting the hunting examination
• Appointment of the municipal gamekeeper
